Joondalup Invitation Art Prize

The Invitation Art Prize has been part of Western Australia’s art landscape for over two decades, supporting hundreds of professional artists and sharing contemporary work with the community in unexpected places - from shopping centres to gallery spaces.

This year marks an exciting shift, with the Prize taking place in the new Joondalup Contemporary Art Gallery. Ten Western Australian artists - Tom Blake, Sam Bloor (winner for 2025), Bruno Booth, Erin Coates, Sarah Elson, Tim Meakins, myself, Andy Quilty, Anna Louise Richardson, and Tyrown Waigana - were invited to present new works spanning painting, sculpture, photography, video, and installation.

I’m thrilled that my work has been acquired by the City of Joondalup Art Collection - a real honour and milestone in my practice. This is the second time I’ve been part of the Invitation Art Prize; the first was in 2020, when it was held at Whitfords Shopping Centre. It’s wonderful to see how far the Prize has come, and how it continues to support artists and connect with audiences in new ways.

The 2025 exhibition runs from 16 October to 13 December, open Thursday to Saturday, 10 am to 4 pm at the Joondalup Contemporary Art Gallery.

I’ll be speaking at the Artist Talk on Saturday, 25 October, 10 am - 12:30 pm, alongside Sarah Elson, Sam Bloor, Tyrown Waigana, and Bruno Booth. Come along from 10 am for live acoustic music and complimentary refreshments, followed by artist talks sharing insight into the creative processes, ideas, and inspirations behind the works.
