Affluence breathes a heavy air is a single-channel video that sits within a broader exploration of aspiration, identity, and cultural memory. The work evokes the stylised aesthetics of retail displays and game shows like Sale of the Century. The figure rotates slowly on a turntable - poised, polished, and slightly surreal. Positioned atop a handmade mountain of crinkled gold emergency blanket that catches the light, the scene evokes a quiet sense of ritual. The mood is restrained, slightly DIY, hovering somewhere between performance, product display, and meditation. Affluence breathes a heavy air reflects on how value, image, and identity are constructed and performed. Caught in an endless turn, the figure becomes both subject and symbol - always on show, yet just out of reach.
